Islanders Blue and White Scrimmage gives fans first glimpse of basketball teams

CORPUS CHRISTI - The public was given its first glimpse of the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's basketball teams on Saturday night at the Blue and White Scrimmage.

The women's team was the first on the court and had a 30-minute running clock. The teams warmed up for 10 minutes and then played one 20-minute period.

The Blue team, made up of Breann McMillan, Ashley Darley, Jade Davis, Brandi Huff, Zoey Vega-Vega, Inekka Stevenson and Adrienne Scott. The White team players were Imani Dunn, Lauren Smith, Jessica Jammer, Anitra Jeffery, Louvinia Robinson, Taryn Gregory and Myeisha Myles.

The Blue team came out on top with a 36-24 victory. Scott was the leading scorer, picking up 17 points. Other scorers for the Blue team were McMillan and Darley with six points each, Davis with four and Vega-Vega with three. For the White team, Jeffery led with eight points while Smith added seven, Myles had six and Jammer had three.

On the men's side, the Blue team was made up of Hollis Hill, Jawan Nelson, Jeremy Allen, Chris Mast, Ted Wang, Jacob Warnell, Demond Watt, Darren Warren and Jaamon Echols. The White team featured Garland Judkins, Terence Jones, Michael Bables, Antonio Topps, Justin Reynolds and Horace Bond.

The White team was victorious in the men's scrimmage, taking a 51-49 win in their 20-minute period. The leading scorer for either team was Mast with 13 points. Other scorers on the Blue team were Hill with 11, Echols with eight, Nelson with six, Wang with four, Warren with three and Warnell with two. For the White team, Judkins led with 11 points while Jones, Reynolds and Allen all had eight. Watt added six, Bables had five, Bond scored four and Topps had two points.

The Islanders will be back on the court next week when the teams host the annual Islanders Invasion at the Dugan Wellness Center. The event is set for Thursday, Oct. 21 with a 7:00 p.m. start at the Dugan Wellness Center.
