The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the West Division of the Southland Conference by the Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook. The publication released its preseason forecast and all-conference teams on Monday morning.
The Islanders return four starters from last season's team that finished third in the West and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals for the second-straight year.
They will be led by a pair of seniors, Second-Team All-Southland member Demond Watt and Justin Reynolds. A&M-Corpus Christi also returns starters Horace Bond and Terence Jones while looking to replace First-Team All-Southland member Kevin Palmer after Palmer finished his eligibility last season. Watt averaged 12.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last season while Reynolds added 9.8 points per contest.
The team begins play with exhibition games against Texas A&M International and Incarnate Word, before starting the regular season against Northeastern Oklahoma State on Nov. 13 at the American Bank Center. The Islanders follow that game up just two days later when they host Texas A&M for the first time in school history.
