PALMER TO MAKE DEBUT IN NBA SUMMER LEAGUE THIS SUNDAY FOR WASHINGTON
Former Texas A&M-Corpus Christi basketball player Kevin Palmer continues his trek towards a spot on an NBA roster this Sunday when he takes his skills to the court for the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The summer league runs July 9-17.
Palmer, who finished his career as an Islander this past spring, is part of a roster that includes the first overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, John Wall of Kentucky. The Wizards open against Golden State at 7 p.m. Central on Sunday.
In two seasons with the Islanders, Palmer recorded two of three highest single-season scoring totals with 599 points as a junior and 631 points as a senior earning All-Southland Conference First-Team honors finishing fifth in career scoring with 1,230 points. He led the league in steals as a senior and finished his career with a school record 163 steals.
As a junior, Palmer was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year as well as first-team all-conference after leading the league in scoring with 18.2 points a game. He was named to the All-NABC District 23 First-Team each season.
