The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball makes its only trip of the regular season to Louisiana this weekend as the Islanders square off with McNeese State on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Burton Coliseum.

The Islanders enter the game looking end a two-game slide and stands at 7-4 and in second place in the Southland Conference West Division. The Cowboys have lost four straight to fall to 3-8 in the league and are now 8-17 overall.

The Islanders lead the all-time series between the two teams 3-1. A&M-Corpus Christi won a defensive struggle 49-46. In the game, the Islanders shot 28.8 percent which is the team's lowest percentage all-time. The 95 combined points is second lowest all-time. The Islanders used a 16-4 advantage on second-chance points to come away with the win.

Kevin Palmer, who led the Islanders with 14 points in last year's meeting, continues to be third in the league in scoring at 19.7 points a game. He is 11th in the nation in steals with 2.6 a game. He matched his season-high with six assists on Wednesday against UTSA.

Demond Watt has been extremely efficient in the last two games. He followed a 9-of-11 performance at Sam Houston State with a 4-of-5 performance against UTSA. Watt has raised his shooting percentage to 64.1% a game, but is just shy of the five made field goals minimum. The national leader is Dinma Odiakosa at 63.3%.

The Cowboys are led by Diego Kapelan and Patrick Richard. Both average 13.1 points a game. Kapelan is one of the top long-range shooters in the country. He averages 3.0 three-point baskets a game which is 19th in the nation. He has hit 40.8% of his three-point baskets which is 27th. P.J. Alawoya leads the team with 7.3 rebounds a game.
