Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball fans will get a special treat on Halloween (Sat., Oct. 31) when the Islanders host Incarnate Word at the Dugan Wellness Center at 3 p.m. Admission to the contest will be free to both students and the public.

The team will also hold a "Blue-White" intra-squad scrimmage this Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Dugan Wellness Center.

"We are looking forward to getting the chance to face some outside competition," said Islander head coach Perry Clark. "It gives us the opportunity to try our offensive and defensive schemes against an opponent who doesn't know what will be coming. Incarnate Word is typically a well-coached team and they will give us a challenge."

The contest will be the lone exhibition for the Islanders this season before opening on the road at the Duel in the Desert hosted by Texas Tech. The Islanders will open against Oregon State at 8 p.m. on Nov. 13. They face the host Red Raiders that Saturday at 6 p.m. before closing the event with a 1 p.m. meeting with South Dakota that Sunday.

"The main reason we opened the scrimmage is we wanted to give the students a chance to see the team in action before the season began since it is a while before we are at home," said Clark.

A&M-Corpus Christi opens the home portion of its regular-season schedule on Thursday, Nov. 19 against Texas-Pan American.
