ISLANDERS RETURN TO TEXAS AS THEY HEAD SOUTH FOR TWO GAMES

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team returns to the Lonestar State on Friday and Saturday but remains on the road with a pair of games in the South Padre Invitational at the South Padre Island Convention Center.

After opening the season at home with an 18-point win over Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Islanders have been on the road since dropping three-straight games. They will look to get back in the win column this weekend as face Jackson State at 2 p.m. on Friday with a match up with either North Carolina Central or UNC Wilmington on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. or 2 p.m.

Despite having his string of double-digit games as an Islander snapped at three, Kevin Palmer continues to lead the Islanders in scoring with 10.3 a game. Justin Reynolds is second in scoring for the team. He raised his average to over nine a game with a season-high 13 at Tulsa. Demond Watt leads the team with seven rebounds a game.

On Friday, they will face Jackson State for the first time in school history. The Tigers out of the SWAC dropped to 0-4 on the season Wednesday night as they suffered an 84-82 loss to North Texas in Denton. Grant Maxey leads JSU with 16.5 points a game and 8.5. Darrien Griffin is second with 14 points a game, while Jeremy Caldwell is averaging just under 14 a game.

North Carolina Central enters the weekend 0-4 on the year. The Eagles are led by Vincent Davis in scoring at 14.5 points a game. Davis is second in rebounding at 7.5 to Stevy Worah-Ozimo. Worah-Ozimo is grabbing 8.3.

Wilmington is 2-3 on the season with both wins at home. They have three players scoring 15.6 points a game as the team averages 86.4. Chad Tomko leads the team 21.4 points, while Johnny Wolf is second at 20.6. Dominique Lacy is third in scoring with 15.6 and is tops with nine rebounds.
