The first game of a two-game trip to the state of Illinois pits the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team against Illinois on Sunday afternoon at Assembly Hall. The tip is slate for 4:30 p.m.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 1-0 marks. The Islanders opened the season at home Friday night with an 83-64 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville, while Illinois won its opener at home over Eastern Washington 66-50.
In the Islander win, freshman Jawan Nelson led the Islanders with 14 points in just 10 minutes of action. Three other Islanders also scored in double figures as Kevin Palmer added 13, and Justin Reynolds and Tim Green each had 11. Defensively, the Islanders held Kingsville to 18 first half points and dominated the boards 52-30 led by Demond Watt's eight.
The trip is a homecoming of sorts for seven members of the team. Senior Tim Green, junior LaMarr Drake, sophomores Demond Watt, Antonio Topps and Horace Bond, and freshmen Jawan Nelson and Jacob Warnell all hail from the area.
Trent Meacham scored 18 points to lead the Illini to a win over Eastern Washington. He was joined in double figures by Chandler Frazier and Demetri McCamey who had 13 and 11, respectively. Illinois limited the hosts to 29.8 % shooting.
The meeting is the second ever between the two teams. The Islanders fell 80-56 at Assembly on Dec. 1, 2001. The meeting is the third for the Islanders against a Big 10 team. They are 0-2 thus far.
The road trip continues with a game Tuesday night at Northwestern at 7 p.m. in Evanston, Ill.
