Islanders Dance Earns First Runner-Up at ADTS Collegiate Championship

DENTON, Texas – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi dance team earned first runner-up today in Division I at the 2013 American Dance/Drill Team Collegiate Championship, hosted by the University of North Texas. Stephen F. Austin won the championship while the Islanders topped Northwestern State for the second year in a row with their high energy jazz routine.

"I'm really happy with how the team performed," Head Cheer and Dance Coach Melanie Lowry said. "We received perfect scores for our choreography across the board and this routine was harder, the division was harder and our competition was more elite than ever."

Full results will be posted later this evening on the ADTS website.

"Overall it was a great experience and we learned what we need to do to prepare for Daytona," Lowry added. "Making finals in Daytona is our main goal."

The team will compete at the NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. on April 10-14.
