CORPUS CHRISTI – The reigning Division I American Dance/Drill Team Collegiate champions are starting right where they left off from a year ago as the 2013 Islanders Dance Team has qualified for the National Cheerleaders Association and the National Dance Alliance Collegiate National Championships on April 10-14, 2013, in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"This is the biggest honor the team has ever received," Head Coach Melanie Lowry said. "The girls have an exciting routine prepared that we know will rival what our universities are bringing to Daytona."
The event is the largest championship in the world for collegiate cheer and dance. The Islanders were chosen for their "outstanding technical ability and crowd involvement skills."
"We are hoping to raise the funds necessary to travel out of state and we look forward to making the transition from Texas to Florida," Lowry added.
