CORPUS CHRISTI – Several members of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are having strong summers playing in collegiate leagues throughout the nation.
In the elite Cape Cod League, closer Jacob Dorris has been a star out of the bullpen for the Chatham Anglers. In 13 innings of work, he has totaled 16 strikeouts and surrendered just six hits. The sidewinder has notched three saves on the year for the Anglers, with his nine appearances tops on the team.
Jordan Lee has had a strong summer for the Laconia Muskrats of the New England Collegiate League. Lee is second on the team with a .295 average, scoring 13 runs and stealing 10 bases on the summer. Teammate A.J. Longoria has struck out six batters in six innings of work out of the bullpen for the Muskrats.
In the Texas Collegiate League, Matt Danton, Kaleb Keith and Jacob Hubert all were named to the TCL All-Star Game. Danton threw a perfect inning in the contest in helping the East squad to an 11-8 win, while Keith allowed two hits in his frame of work for the West. Danton is 3-1 with a 2.10 ERA on the summer, while Keith has amassed a 0.62 ERA in 13 games.
For the Watertown Rams of the Perfect Game Baseball League, Dominic Lopez has been piling up the big hits. He is tied for the team lead with 18 RBI on the summer, with four doubles and a home run to go along with it.
Brandon Tierney has had a strong campaign for the Front Royal Cardinals of the Valley League. The infielder is second on his squad with a .286 average, going 30-for-105 so far in the season. He has also excelled in his specialty, racking up nine HBPs on the summer, just one off the league-leading total.
