Baseball Hosts UTSA in First Midweek Contest of 2013

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Baseball team will play its first midweek game of the 2013 season on Wednesday night, hosting UTSA in a non-conference affair at Chapman Field. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.

All fans without a valid Texas A&M – Corpus Christi parking pass or a disabled parking tag are required to park in the Bayside Parking Garage located on campus.

The Islanders (3-1) are scheduled to start Tyler Schnuriger (0-1, 6.75 ERA) on the mound as he looks to bounce back from a tough start in the season opener against Texas – Pan American. UTSA will throw Justin Anderson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) in his first pitching action of the 2013 season.

Texas A&M – Corpus Christi will look to continue its three-game winning streak, picking up the final three games of the series against UTPA after falling in the opener on Friday night. UTSA is undefeated after sweeping Air Force in its opening series.

Offensively for the Islanders, Brad Porras and Eric Weiss led the way in the opening series. Porras hit .467 with a pair of RBI while Weiss added a .429 average and a team-high six RBI against the Broncs. Porras had three doubles and Weiss notched a double and a triple in the series.

For UTSA, Daniel Rockett had a great weekend at the plate, hitting .667 with two doubles a home run and four RBI. RJ Perucki hit .526 with four RBI, while John Bormann and Mike Warren tied for the team lead with five RBI.
