Baseball Back to Louisiana For Southland Series Against Northwestern State

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi baseball team will be back in Louisiana for the second time in three weeks this weekend when they travel to take on the Northwestern State Demons in Natchitoches, La. for a three game Southland Conference series. The teams will play at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday at Brown-Stroud Field.

The Islanders go into the weekend at 13-19 on the season and 6-9 in Southland Conference games. The Demons are 13-17 overall, and 9-6 in league contests.

Trevor Foss will lead off the Islanders rotation on Friday night, getting his fourth start of the season. Foss has a 0-4 record with a 7.58 ERA. He will face Colin Bear of the Demons, who brings a 2-4 mark and 4.67 ERA into the game.

On Saturday, Adam Hoelscher will take a 5-3 won-loss record and his 3.38 ERA on the mound against Jacob Roark, who is 2-2 and has a 3.74 earned run average.

The Sunday finale will feature Daniel Minor against Andrew Adams squaring off. Minor currently leads the Southland Conference and is ninth nationally with 66 strikeouts, while also having a 5-1 record and 1.55 ERA. Adams will make his sixth start and has a 1-3 mark and 6.59 ERA this season.

The Islanders offense comes into the game hitting .231 on the year, while NSU is currently at .264 as a team in batting average.

Jordan Lee leads the Islanders with a .275 average, with Drew Vest and Eric Weiss sitting at .267 on the year. Weiss leads the team with 14 RBI, while Jonathan Gonzales is at 13 and Kyle Danford has driven in 12 this year. Gonzales also leads the team with five home runs this season.

Will Watson is tops on the Demons team with a .330 average, with Drew Helenihi at .327 and Jordan Buckley at .293 this year. Nick Hinojos has a team-high 20 RBI, while Bear is at 14 runs batted in and Ryan Westbrook is third on the Demons squad with 13 RBI. Hinojos has a team best in homers with four on the year.
