The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi will look to improve upon its quick start in Southland Conference play beginning Friday when the team hosts Southeastern Louisiana at Chapman Field. The two teams will play at 6 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
The Islanders are 9-8 overall on the year and 2-1 in league play after the first weekend of conference play. The Lions are 13-5 on the year, and 1-2 in Southland games. Texas A&M – Corpus Christi did not play any games this week, while SELA is coming off of a two-game sweep of #21 Mississippi State during midweek play.
The pitching rotations for the two teams will feature Adam Hoelscher against Joseph Koon on Friday, Tim Keller vs. Jordan Hymel on Saturday and a matchup of Daniel Minor and Josh Janway on Sunday afternoon.
Hoelscher is 4-1 on the year with a 3.12 ERA, while Koon comes into the series at 2-0 and a 2.65 ERA. Keller is 0-2 on the season with a 3.27 ERA vs. Hymel at 2-1 and 2.65 ERA. Minor has a 3-1 record to go along with a 1.29 ERA, tops among Islanders starters, while Janway is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA.
Offensively, Eric Weiss is hitting .316 and Kyle Danford bats at a .263 clip to lead the team. Danford leads the team in RBI with 10, while Weiss and Jonathan Gonzales are tied for second with seven RBI apiece.
Brock Hebert and his .439 batting average lead the Lions, while Jonathan Pace (.375) and Ladd Rhodes (.362) are also hitting above .300 on the season. Pace leads the team in RBI with 13, while Cody Gougler and Harry Slade each have 12 for SELA.
