Islanders Baseball Set For Four-Game Road Swing in North Texas

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi baseball team will hit the road for a four-game road trip on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Metroplex, taking on Dallas Baptist in a three-game series before battling Southland foe UT Arlington in a single game on Saturday night.

The Islanders come into the weekend with a 6-2 record after going 3-1 last week, including a midweek win over Houston and a 2-1 showing in the Kleberg Bank College Classic with wins over UNLV and Utah.

Dallas Baptist comes off of a Super Regional appearance last season, and is 3-5 on the year. Last weekend DBU lost three to No. 7 Rice on the road, before falling 5-4 to UTSA in Dallas on Tuesday night.

UT Arlington is 5-2 with a 3-1 win over Stephen F. Austin in its last outing. The Mavs are scheduled to play Oklahoma on Wednesday night and will play the Islanders on Saturday night in the middle of a three-game set with Houston Baptist.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi pitching staff has been stellar so far this season, sporting a 1.80 team ERA while striking out 65 batters to just 12 walks. Adam Hoelscher and Daniel Minor have earned Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week the first two weeks of the year.

On offense, Eric Weiss leads the team with a .375 batting average, while Kyle Danford is batting .360, Jeramie Marek is at .346 and Bobby Buckner sits at .333 on the season. The team has a total of 13 stolen bases in eight games this year while being caught just three times.

The Islanders will play DBU on Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m., with a series finale at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The single game against UTA is slated for 7 p.m. later that night.
