Baseball hosts annual scout day at Chapman Field

Texas A&M - Corpus Christi baseball hosted its annual scout day on Tuesday afternoon at Chapman Field. Several draft eligible players worked out in front of personnel from Major League Baseball.

Eligible players took batting practice, infield, outfield and ran the bases for scouts. The day concluded with playing a simulated game for those in attendance.

"Tuesday will be one of the most exciting days of the fall for our players and our program," said head coach Scott Malone.

"Our kids love showing up to the park and putting their abilities on display for the MLB guys," added Malone "We always get a good turnout, and it is a great opportunity for our players to let the MLB scouts see them play and showcase their skills."

This year coach Malone and his staff have added some new events to take their annual scout day to the next level. There was a golf outing in the morning for the scouts that was followed-up with a pre-workout meal before beginning the afternoon session.

Scouts in attendance were from the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Florida Marlins, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and the MLB scouting bureau.
