PARRA MAKING NOISE IN FRONTIER LEAGUE
Former Texas A&M-Corpus Christi third baseman Martin Parra is making the most of his opportunity with the Frontier League's Oakland County Cruisers. He concluded his four-year career in 2009.
The former Islander slugger, who joined the Cruisers in May, is currently hitting .324 with three home runs, 19 runs batted in and 14 runs scored. He is fourth on the team in hitting, tied for second in RBI, and is third on the team in homers. Parra also has 18 walks to go with five steals in six attempts. The Cruiser third baseman is 14th in the league in hitting and tied for ninth in runs batted in.
Oakland County is currently tied for first in the East Division of the Frontier League at 13-9. The Frontier League is an independent league established in 1993 and is made up of 10 teams. The level of play is considered similar to Single-A in the affiliated minor leagues.
