ISLANDER BASEBALL CAMPS IN FULL SWING ON DIAMOND

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball staff finished its first full week of summer camp Friday hosting a pair of camps at Chapman Field on the Island University.

The Islanders hosted a Showcase Camp on Monday for high school players, while the past four days has been a skills camp for kids in eighth grade and below. For those who missed this week's action several other camp sessions will be held throughout the summer.

Below is a list of upcoming Islander Baseball Camps to be held at Chapman Field during the summer of 2010:

Monday, June 21, through Thursday, June 24 - The Islander baseball coaching staff at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a competition camp for boys in grades eight and below from Monday, June 21, through Thursday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chapman Field. The full-day camp for both beginners and experienced players is designed to increase game knowledge, improve a player's ability to participate, give the coaching staff an opportunity to instruct individual players on the skills it takes to be a better baseball player, and provide a full week of games and scrimmages. Monday, July 12, through Thursday, July 15 - The Islander baseball coaching staff at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a skills camps for boys in grades eight and below from Monday, July 12, through Thursday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at Chapman Field. The camp is for beginners and experienced players. Participants will be introduced to the skills of every defensive position and hitting and team drills. The cost is $90. Wednesday, July 28 - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi baseball staff will hold a one-day Showcase Camp for rising ninth to 12th graders on Wednesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chapman Field. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Camp participants will be able to showcase their skills in front of the Islander coaching staff.
