The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team will welcome back nearly 30 former players for the second annual alumni baseball game at newly refurbished Chapman Field. First pitch is slated for 1:30 p.m. this Saturday with a cookout to follow.
"The alumni game is beginning to become a highlight of the fall season," said Islander head coach Scott Malone. "It is opportunity for the current players to compete against someone other than themselves and break up the monotony of practice."
It is also a chance for the current and former players to develop relationships.
"One of the main purposes of the game is for former to comeback and reconnect with the program and feel like they have an ownership in the program," said Malone. "The current team gets a chance to meet those players who came before them and laid the groundwork for the program.
"It should be a great day."
