ISLANDER BASEBALL RETURNS HOME FOR SEVEN STRAIGHT GAMES

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team returns to the Coastal Bend Tuesday night for the first of two games Texas Tech at Whataburger Field and the first of seven straight in Corpus Christi.

The Islanders will face Texas Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday night in their final two games of the regular season at Whataburger Field. They host McNeese State in a three-game Southland Conference series at Chapman Field beginning Friday. They close out the home stand with a pair of midweek games next week at Chapman Field against Houston Baptist on Tuesday and Houston-Victoria on Wednesday. Both matchups are single games at 2 p.m.

A&M-Corpus Christi (4-15) enters the midweek series with Texas Tech looking to snap a seven-game losing streak and build some momentum for its league series beginning on Friday with the Cowboys. Texas Tech is 8-10 on the season and 0-4 in road games thus far in its first year under head coach Dan Spencer.

Stephen Flora and Jacob Perales lead the Islander offense with matching .366 averages. Flora leads the team in runs batted in with 16 and is tied with Trey Hernandez for most home runs with five. Perales is first with 13 run scored and 10 walks and had a 13-game hitting streak earlier this season.

Texas Tech is hitting .299 as a team lead by Joey Kenworthy and Chris Richburg. Kenworthy is batting .378 to lead the team. Chris Richburg leads the team with five home runs, 22 RBI and is second with 19 runs scored. Michael Reed has scored a team-best 20 RBI.

Andrew Toppert and Jake Liedka will get the starts on the mound for the Islanders. Toppert will be making his third start of the season and has a 4.91 ERA with an 0-2 record in 11 innings. Liedka will be making his first start of the season after nine relief appearances. He is 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA and is limiting opponents with a .258 batting average.

Texas Tech is sending Nate Karns and Brandon Foster to the rubber. Foster will be making his first start of the season, while Karns is 0-2 in three starts.
