The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team heads to Thibodaux, La., to battle Nicholls this weekend in its first Southland Conference road series. Due to inclement weather on the horizon, the teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday at noon with the finale slated for 6 p.m. on Saturday. Live stats will be available on goislanders.com.

The Islanders enter the contest with a 4-12 record having dropped three straight. They opened Southland Conference two weeks against Texas State at Whataburger Field and lost all three before participating in the Whataburger College Classic this past weekend. Nicholls State is 6-7 on the season and is 1-2 in the SLC. They defeated Lamar in the opener 9-5 before dropping the final two.

Through 16 games, the Islanders are hitting .287 as a team with three players hitting .350 or better. Jacob Perales leads the team with a .397 average and 13 runs scored with a pair of home runs and 10 RBI. Stephen Flora leads the team with four home runs and is hitting .383 with a team-high 14 runs batted in. Martin Parra is third on the team with a .350 average and second with 13 RBI. He has two home runs. Trey Hernandez leads the team with five home runs.

The Islanders will be sending Justin Grota and Roy Ferdin to the mound on Friday with Brandon Orr slated to begin the game on Saturday. Grota is 2-0 winning his two starts and has limited opposing hitters to .229. Ferdin is 1-2 with a 5.75 ERA in four starts. Orr is also 1-2 with a .467 ERA in three starts.

Chris Murrill leads the hosts with a .432 average as the Colonels are batting .287 as a team. Adam Moseley has a .367 average with 11 RBI, while Adam Miley is hitting .356 with a team-best 14 RBI. Keith Kulbeth has three of the team's four home runs.
