ISLANDER CATCHER NAMED TO BROOKS WALLACE WATCH

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior catcher Stephen Flora has been named to the 2009 Brooks Wallace Award Watch List it was recently announced.

Flora, who was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and second-team All-Southland Conference a season ago, led the Islanders in hitting a season ago with a .380 average. His average finished percentage points behind Seth Hammock for the top average in the league in all games and he tied for ninth with 18 doubles.

During the season, Flora was named the www.collegebaseballinsider.com National Player of the Week for the week ending May 11. He averaged .786 in the series with Central Arkansas that week with six doubles, seven runs scored and two RBIs.

He is one of four Southland Conference players placed on the list.
