The plans have been finalized for Saturday's first-ever Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Baseball Alumni Game slated for Saturday at Chapman Field as part of the 10-year celebration of the Islander athletic program.

"We are hoping to build a bridge between the players that laid the foundation for the baseball program and our current student athletes," said Islander head coach Scott Malone. "This is the first event to try and get all of the past baseball players and current team gathered on one field."

The current Islanders are in the midst of fall practice. The game will allow fans and alumni to get a first-hand look at the team that will take the field in the spring in Malone's second season.

Newcomer Brett Carnline will start for the Islanders. The current team's offense will be paced by Trey Hernandez who was the school's first Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American along with seniors Stephen Flora, Ernie Olivarez, Brycen Bell, Martin Parra and Jonathan Reyes.

"I know we are bringing back some very competitive players that have not been long removed from the playing field," said Malone. "There is no doubt the alumni team will come out to try and prove they can still compete with our active roster. This weekend will be a great opportunity for our players to compete with the stars of the past of Islander baseball."
