Johnson helped lead the Spurs to the 1999 NBA Championship as the team’s point guard. The Spurs retired his number in 2007 and he was inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. He went on to serve as a head coach in the NBA for both the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets.

He also holds the NCAA single game record with 22 assists, and is the only player in NCAA Division I history to have 20-plus assists in a game more than once, doing so four times during his two years at Southern.
