Chad Karthauser began his duties at the Island University in July 2012 as the department's Assistant Athletics Director for Business and Finance. In his role, he oversees all budget, finance, equipment and human resources for Islanders Athletics.
Before joining the Islanders, Karthauser completed his master’s degree in Intercollegiate Athletics Leadership at the University of Washington. While he was pursuing his master’s, he also interned at Seattle University, heading up business operations for the Division I school. In addition to his duties for the business department, he also assisted in academics at SU and worked in event management on football gamedays at Washington.
Prior to enrolling in the master’s program at UW, Karthauser spent five years as an associate business manager for Level Four Business Management, a California-based company that handles clients in the television and motion picture industries. He reviewed contracts, approved expenditures and maintained yearly budgets for individuals and corporations with millions of dollars of annual revenue.
He previously worked for three years as a staff accountant at Gelfand, Rennert and Feldman in the music industry. Among his endeavors there was budget and revenue work for Bon Jovi while the group was in the midst of a European tour. He also spent two years working in accounting for Gym Management Services, where he oversaw transactions for Gold’s Gym.
Karthauser received his bachelor’s degree in economics for business and management from Los Angeles’ Occidental College in 2001. The native of Prosser, Wash., was a four-year letterwinner while playing offensive line for Occidental, where he won Second Team All-Southern California Athletic Conference honors in his senior season.
