Alamar Cavada, who was a charter member of the Islanders cross country and track programs, served as the interim director of marketing from October 2008 until being hired for the position full time. In that role, Cavada has overseen the marketing and promotional activities of the department including the formulation of marketing campaigns to promote home events and the purchasing of print and broadcast advertising.

The native of Corpus Christi has experience in marketing and sales experience. Prior to joining the Islander staff this past fall, Cavada was the Marketing Coordinator at Concrete Street Amphitheater and Brewster Street Icehouse under the direction of Mark Schaberg.

Cavada spent two-plus years at KRIS Communications working in both Internet and television sales playing a key role in the launch of the sales division for KRISTV.com. Cavada then moved to the television division as an outside sales account manager overseeing advertising of television and internet campaigns for four local stations.
