Camps for youth of all ages are offered during the summer and throughout the year. Please check periodically to see which camps are upcoming and for scheduling changes. All Islanders Sports Camps are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender).
ISLANDER BASEBALL CAMPS The Islander baseball program offers a wide variety of camps throughout the year. The camp staff is committed to providing quality instruction in all aspects of the game. Friday, July 16, through Sunday, July 18 - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball program is holding a team camp July 16-18 at Chapman Field. The camp is open for all teams with players ages 15-16. Monday, July 19, through Thursday, July 22 - The Islander baseball coaching staff at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a competition camp for boys in grades eight and below from Monday, July 19, through Thursday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chapman Field. The full-day camp for both beginners and experienced players is designed to increase game knowledge, improve a player's ability to participate, give the coaching staff an opportunity to instruct individual players on the skills it takes to be a better baseball player, and provide a full week of games and scrimmages. Wednesday, July 28 - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi baseball staff will hold a one-day Showcase Camp for rising ninth to 12th graders on Wednesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chapman Field. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Camp participants will be able to showcase their skills in front of the Islander coaching staff. ISLANDER VOLLEYBALL CAMPS Join Head Coach Tony Graystone and Assistant Coach Kendra Potts for fun, educational volleyball instruction. Improve your fundamentals skills and receive quality instruction at position and age-specific camps. The volleyball staff offers several camps for specific areas of focus, including the Libero position, the Setter position, hitting camps and team camps. Monday, July 5, through Thursday, July 8 - Islander volleyball at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a VolleyTots camp for boys and girls ages 5-9 from Monday, July 5, through Thursday, July 8, from noon to 1:45 p.m. in the Moody Sustainers Field House. The camp will provide an introduction to beginning volleyball skills and focus on general fitness, hand-eye coordination, core strength and agility. This camp uses a specially-made ball for elementary school-age children so there is no fear of being hit with the volleyball. The camp will feature a very small player-to-coach ratio. Space is limited. The cost is $90 which includes a camp T-shirt. The camp will emphasize body position, footwork patterns, passing and digging techniques, platform control and serve receive. Additional training will include back row attacks, setting and jump serving. Registration is $115 before Monday, June 21. After the deadline, registration is $130. Tuesday, July 6, through Thursday, July 8 - Islander volleyball at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a hitter/blocker camp for middle and high school students from Tuesday, July 6, through Thursday, July 8, from 2-5 p.m. at the Moody Sustainers Field House. The camp will emphasize the technique of the approach and arm swing, and the execution of play sets. Campers will improve arm swing, timing and approach mechanics, and work with setters to develop shots and learn to score more points. Additional training will include transitioning from defense, blocking and serve receive, jump serving and out-of-system play. Registration is $115 through Monday, June 21. Campers will be evaluated and placed with other players of similar age and ability. Registration is $130 through Monday, June 21. After the deadline, registration is $145. The VolleyKids camp will build on the same concepts introduced in the VolleyTots camp. VolleyKids will spend more time developing volleyball specific skills and learning teamwork skills. This camp will continue to work on the same principals of general fitness, hand-eye coordination, core strength and agility. Campers are strongly encouraged to enroll in a VolleyTots clinic before attending VolleyKids. Space is limited. The cost is $90 which includes a camp T-shirt. Monday, July 12, through Thursday, July 15 - Islander volleyball at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a High School Skills Camp from Monday, July 12, through Thursday, July 15, from 2-5 p.m. at the Moody Sustainers Field House. Islander coaching staff and players will teach sessions on individual skill training, transition skill training with other positions and competitive games. Campers will also interact with current Islander student athletes and have the opportunity to learn what it takes to become a college volleyball player. Registration is $130 through Monday, June 21. ISLANDER CROSS COUNTRY CAMPS Thursday, July 15, through Sunday, July 18 - The Islander Cross Country Camp for middle and high school boys and girls will be held from Thursday, July 15, at noon through Sunday, July 18, at noon on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus. The camp is for both experienced and novice runners. Campers will learn the latest in running and training techniques, hydration, running footwear, analysis of form, pre-racing strategies and post-race evaluation. The cost is $300 for overnight campers; $150 for day campers with a $75 deposit by Sunday, July 4. A $50 late fee will be charged for all entries received after Sunday, July 4.
