With the loss, Islanders dropped to 0-9 in the Southland Conference and are 7-17 overall. The win was the second of the season for Northwestern State as it improved to 2-16 and 1-9 in the league.

"We had too many unforced errors in the game," said Islander coach Tony Graystone. "We felt like we had a good game plan coming we just didn't stick with it. They are a solid team when they stay in their offense and we were unable to get them out of it.

"We just need to approach each game as a chance to get better and improve our skill level."

The Islanders led throughout the opening set as they hit for a .241 percentage, as Emma Ridley and Jessica Korda each had three kills. A&M-Corpus Christi would also benefit from six service errors by the Lady Demons, who hit .143 as well.

In the final three sets, the Northwestern State offense warmed up with Yelena Enwere leading the way, while A&M-Corpus Christi hit no better than .129 in the final three games. The senior finished with 20 kills on 36 swings with four errors for a .444 percentage. Sarah Jones would finish with 10 kills. They jumped out to leads of 7-0 and 6-0 in sets two and three to take control early.

Ridley led the Islanders with 11 kills, while Ariel Carlson had 10. Carlson set a single-game record for a four-set match with a .769 hitting percentage. The freshman had no errors in 13 attempts to break the record of .600 set by Lauren Smith against Centenary during the 2001 campaign. Jessica Jennett had a season-high 32 assists.

Megan Dockery had 43 assists for Northwestern State.
