Terra Andrews was born on Feb. 27, 1984, in Houston, Texas.Andrews was a two-sport standout at Dulles High School inSugarland. She was named Newcomer of the Year during her sophomoreseason in volleyball and was recognized on the all-district teamher junior and senior years. While she excelled in volleyball, shewas a force on the basketball court, earning invitations to boththe TABC All-Star Team and the TGCA All-Star Team. Andrews wasselected to the all-district team her senior year and was nominatedas a McDonald’s All-American. In addition to her success onthe court, Andrews was also a member of the National HonorSociety.
Andrews arrived on campus at Texas A&M University-CorpusChristi in the fall of 2002 and quickly became a leader on thecourt for the Islanders women’s basketball team. Andrews hasa resumé that is unparalleled in program history. Inaddition to being the Islanders’ career scoring leader with1,550 points, she also holds the school records in both field goals(607) and field-goal attempts (1,420). She scored 20 points or more25 times in her career, an Islanders record, and led the team to anIndependent Championship and a spot in the Women’s NationalInvitation Tournament in 2005. The 2004-05 Islanders finished theyear with a 23-7 record.
The native of Missouri City, Texas, was named the Division IIndependent Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in each ofher final three seasons, in addition to earning Second Team honorsin her freshman campaign. She is also second on the Islandersall-time list in rebounds (815) and double-doubles (20) and isthird in blocks (87) and steals (145). Her 465 points in 2004-05are the second most in a season in Islanders history.
After graduating Cum Laude in May of 2006, Andrews returned to herroots in Houston. Today she serves as an insurance broker forArthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services.
